Madras Knights RT (India)
& Golden East RT (South Africa)
Dream that was dreamt
for a very long time had finally become a reality.
The Knights has opened their arms and warmly welcomed the
tablers of Golden East RT 181, South Africa.
Chairman Robin Clare Tablot and his wife Melissa were the
first to arrive on 20th October and were home hosted by HT Vinay.
The Next day VC Leigh Micheal, Treasurer Alex Staniland and Sq.leg Charl
Schotlz were warmly received by HT Vinay from the airport and were headed
straight to Pondicherry for an overnight stay.
After visiting the historical monuments and must see places
it was time for fellowship with Pondy tablers and French wine. All the three
tables of Pondicherry combined together hosted the evening with wine, music and
Indo-French cuisine.
The Night was young and everyone was getting into the
groove, and then came the introduction of a bomb called the SNIFF BOMB by
Sq.leg Charl.
To give a short summary, it was directly sniffing of
powdered tobacco through a very peculiar antique device. The Bomb had many
brains exploding. J
On 22nd the Proteas along with HT vinay drove
back to Chennai and directly headed to M.A. Chidambaram Stadium for a one-day
match to be played between India and South Africa. Ch.lankeswaran, Trs. Hamir,
Jai, Sq.leg ram,Tws. Karan and Dwij along with the only 5 protean Spectators in
the crowd of over 50,000+ Indians enjoyed an electrifying game of Cricket. They
not only got coverage on national television but were lucky enough to meet and
greet the South African team as well and were sure to return home as
celebrities. J
Next day began with Breakfast at Murugan idly Shop, one of
the finest authentic South Indian Tiffin centers followed by a visit to Madras
Knights Round tables Long term Project Siragu Montessori School. The GE 181ers
had an overwhelming experience. They were overjoyed and emotional on spending
quality time with the underprivileged children and were happy to see smiles on
every child’s face. They also distributed some snacks. In return the children
individually presented them with a personalized iconography message with a logo
of Round Table India followed by a lunch at Junior Kuppanna giving the taste of
spicy South Indian food. All of them had a very teary eye experience, but
enjoyed the food and the unique style of serving food on a plantain leaf.
Finally on 23rd evening the wait was over and
MKRT 181 along with GE 181 commenced the Twinning Meet at THE PARK, Chennai. NP
Suman Voora, NPC/AVC Akshay Dugar,NTTE Hamir sampat, IPAC Sriram, AC Inder
Singh, AST/NFC Ankit Gupta along with the tablers of MKRT 181 and family graced
the occasion. 5 Tablers of GE 181, 6 Tablers of Koln 181 and IPP Deepak joined
the meeting via skype. An agreement of Friendship and fellowship was read out
and signed by Ch. Lankeswaran MKRT 181 and Ch. Robin GE 181. Koln 181 of
Germany proposed to Host the 181 world meet of 2016-17.
After the meeting it was time to unwind and switch to party
mode. It was time to bond, sing and dance the night away. Proteas learned the
JATKAS and MATKAS and grooved to some peppy dance numbers of Bollywood and
Kollywood.
Day 5 began with SPA and shopping for the proteas and halted
with a lunch hosted by yours truly me at my restaurant, Azzuri Bay giving the
guest some Comfort food after all the experimentation with Indian cuisines.
They binged onto some delicious Italian/Mediterranean and Asian Cuisine. Later
in the evening they also joined in and help raise money for MKRT 181’s Fund
Raiser and finally bid everyone adieu because they had a fight to catch the
same night.
All will cherish these 5 days not just for cross border
international relations but also because everyone came closer to each other,
connected and felt like one Giant Family. The GE 181 Tablers were home hosted
and were given the comfort and warmth of being at their homes by HT vinay, Tr.
Kavalpreet and Sq.leg Ram.
What makes Round Table the most unique organization is the
free spirit and open mindedness of every individual associated with the movement. One of the most beautiful aspects of tabling
is “Fellowship”.
Thus I can say with Pride: I am Proud to be a Tabler.
