MKRT 181 had two fellowships this month

The First one was Tr Rajeshwar and Cr Divyaa's Social

It was quite different and innovative as they had their social at their house. It was really a great bonding time for MKRT 181 as other than the regular socials as the 181ers interacted between themselves.

Christmas Fellowship Week End

The family of 181 kick started the Christmas week end by chilling out at the most popular roof top terrace lounge in Chennai at the Hilton Hotel called Q BAR… Most of the guys were coming here for the first time and it was extreme bliss of an experience for them. The never before cold breeze in Chennai , the quality of music , the ambience and most of all enjoying the company of each other was the point to be noted… We all partied till about 1am and rushed back home to take some good rest for a day long fellowship the following day which is going to be with the family of Table 159 playing a 20-20 crick match accompanied with some fun fare activities for the twinklers and the ladies of both the tables with some pot luck lunch @ the YMCA grounds…

4th Day of RTI week of MKRT 181

Today the 17th of Nov 2011 we Knights funded a one months supply of Pedia sure a food supplement for 70 children taken care by CAN STOP a cancer support wing of Sundaram Foundation. It is our privilege for us to be able to provide the first and the last meal of the day for these children for a month. May God have them live their hope…

5th day of the RTI week of MKRT 181

This 18th of Nov, which is the 5th day of the RTI week, 200 plus inmates of Sri Matha Trust blessed the families of MKRT 181 by praying for us because we sponsored their breakfast. Sri Matha trust is a registered Charitable Institution and itsobjects are to help the poor and the sick in the society belonging to all caste, creed and religion. At the request of the Cancer Institute Chennai, right from Aug 2000 this trust runs Mohandevi Hirachand Nahar Rajasthani Dharamsala in the old Cancer Institute premises at Adyar Chennai that takes care of the needy cancer patients who cannot afford treatment.

6th Day of the RTI week of MKRT 181

Today the 19th of Nov we Kights contributed did 2 services of contributing bed sheets to the needy.

We contributed 26 bed sheets for other wise challenged children with Autism at KRUPA a home supported by Aim for Seva trust in Chennai. We handed over these bed sheets at the trusts admin office. Our visit to the office was definitely an eye opener about this organisation for the kind of vast support they are extending towards children’s education, betterment and up keep through out India almost like our organisation but here they not only build schools by seeking help they also educate and they also run student homes.
We knights contributed 18 bed sheets to a War widows welfare association named “NIMMADHI” an old age home that has 16 war widows mostly from World War 2 and two-ex service men. It is really sad to see and understand the lack of support they have from the society. We 181rs have visited this place for the first time and for sure left with an said promise them that we will further do our best and give what is needed by them ASAP to our capacities. It was so nice to see these old people having such a broad smile on there faces… Again thanks to this movement Round Table that we are able to reach such needy and be one small reason for the smile on their face

7th Day of the RTI week of MKRT 181

On 20th Nov we Knights did our 7th and final day of community services coinciding with the RTI week which this year for us was from the 14th to 20th of Nov. Today we supported a Govt. home for children called ‘Annai Sathiya illam’ near Central Railway station in Chennai supported by Smile foundation. This home mainly has girl children right from 1st standard to 12th standard and some college students too. We knights contributed today as a start Rs.5000 worth stationary mainly benefiting the girl children in the higher classes. We Knights did this contribution under the new initiative which we started today which is the ‘Save a Girl Child’ in association with Suyam Charitable trust headed by Mrs.Uma Muthuraman whom we are associated for the last 7 years. Today the children at this home were celebrating children’s day as 14th Nov was a Monday this yr and hence we also distributed biscuit packets to them. it was again a blessing to see so many broad smiles today on the faces of so many children

On 16th Nov the 3rd day of the RTI week we knights sponsored a dinner for about 400 plus children mostly orphans at the Ramakrishna Ashram in Chennai. The best part of this was we being exposed to some mind sooting prayers before dinner and then having dinner. It was an eye opener reminding us about our strong Indian culture and traditions. A good learning for our twinklers with a smile on their faces….

Day 2 of RTI week 11-12 of MKRT 181


Today the 15th of Nov the day two of the RTI week we knights of table 181 contributed a bore well to a school called Swami Dayananda Rotary Primary & Nursery school situated at Kalpakkam 9 kms from Mahabalipuram at Kadalur Village just off ECR . This school is mainly supporting the children from the fishermen community and that too most of them who suffered the effects of Tsunami. This school has classes from LKG to 5th standard and they are following the state syllabus. There are 305 children studying here. The school children performed some entertainment program for us and also spoke about a few Indian leaders of the past and present. Our first time visit to this school was definitely worth and for sure has made us start to think whether we should support this school further. The best good thing about this school was that hey have maintained it very well. The smile on the kids faces today will go a long way for us who visited the school.

A report on Twinklers Diwali fellowship with MMLC 4 an LC of Table MMRT 3

This Diwali the twinklers had absolute fun in the joint fellowship organized by MMLC 4 on October 22,2011 at the Wonderyears Playschool. The ladies of Table 3 invited us ladies of 181 as guests, and we all got to meet and bond with them. Nine ladies and 12 children attended this event. There were lots of activities organized like greeting card making, toran making, pot and diya painting, mehendi and host of other activities. A shadow puppet play was also organized based on Ramayana, the children understood the significance of Diwali. There was some lip smacking food cooked by the ladies of MMLC 4.
We gave some chocolates, and goodies to all the kids as a token of appreciation from 181.

Madras Knights Round Table 181 RTI week Day 1

Tablers of MKRT 181 had their activities for the first day of the designated RTI week

Day 1 of the community service of RTI week of MKRT 181 of 2011-12
On 14th of Nov which is the Children's Day Madras Knights started the RTI week for 2011-12 by donating a lot of things to Siragu school run by Suyam charitable trust. 181r's have built 9 class rooms in the past for this school and have decided after 3 yrs of gap that we will build a few more class rooms starting this year. Since today 14th was a working day and because of some last minute planning we 181'rs could not make it to the school for the morning Children's day function which was already planned by the school. Instead we made sure that our presence was not missed by donating some goodies this day which will directly benefit the children of the school. Todays activity which was coordinated and donated by the table are -
1. Sponsored a scrumptious special lunch for over 200 children.
2. 800 plus square feet of roofing material to cover the common utility areas of the school.
3. Two 1000 plus PMPO watts music systems for schools recreation rooms and hostel room.
4. One Hi 8 Video camera & one digital photo camera
5. Books for Siragu's library - A full series of How & Why books, A whole series of children's Encyclopedia books, A whole series of quiz books, A whole series of fairy tale books and many more other novels for kids.
6. Clothes for children and teachers.
7. Also initiated a pick up vehicle going to all 181'rs houses from this day onwards for a few days collecting similar useful things….
Since we missed the morning session principal of the school Mrs.Geetha came along with 8 students i.e. one child representing each class from classes 1 to 8 came to one of our tablets house.Here we donated all the above things mentioned. They were extremely excited seeing the books and the electronics they were getting. Each of them told what they wanted to become in the future and it was an eye opener to some of our twinklers of our table who were sitting along with them. Over all I think the day ended well with broad smiles on these few children's shining faces…

181's first fellowship of Oct 2011 kick started on the 13th Oct 2011 at Javed's Kebabs & Curries a new restaurant on Khadar Nawaj Khan Rd ,Chennai. This Restaurant is new and is going to open on the 22nd of Oct 2011.Yesterday we had an trial run of a few items of their menu exclusively for our table. It was an experience definitely because for many of us were for the first time given a sheet of paper with all the items being served for dinner asking questions against each dish being served with our opinion to be marked under - " Great , Average and Bad and Suggestions". Yeah 181'rs showed their critic side of them genuinely at least for the reason for the treat given :) ... There were total 10 tablers,9 ladies and 7 twinklers...

Meeting Team CSK again on Saturday, October 1st 2011

Twinklers had another encounter with team CSK this evening at the Madras Cricket Club from 4:45pm to 6:45pm. Four Twinklers had a blast and were excited beyond imagination to meet with Team CSK. Twinker Karan Sampath on his B'day mustered up courage and talked to all the members and got Birthday wishes from all of them. In fact Ashwin was disappointed that Karan did not share his B'day cake with him. Suresh Raina made Twinkler Tanvi's day for sure. I could not believe that she was in tears after meeting and talking with him. She took almost 3 to 4 minutes to breath normally. The water bottle Twinkler Tanvi is drinking water from is a gift from Suresh Raina. Please see the photos to see their excitement and share their happiness.

Who said fellowships are only for Tablers?

MKRT 181 Twinklers had a blast at the movies on Friday, Sept. 23rd at
Escape. Nine twinklers, two tablers and three ladies made it. They
all watched "ZooKeeper". They munched on popcorn and also fed popcorn
to the seats and the floor. It was non-stop bonding amongst the twinklers
(like in the photos) right from when they saw each other. I think
they just enjoyed being with each other

MKRT 181's 1st Community Service for the year with Lions Club Of Pettah

MKRT 181 had its 1st Community Service Project for the year 2011-2012. This was a joint initiative between MKRT 181 and LIons Club of Pettah, Sri Lanka. It was also a Part of our International Relations which are on with Lions club of Pettah for the last Four Years.

Knights , we had our first joint International community service for the yr 2011-12 @ Chennai on the 27th Sept with Lions Club of Pettah, Colombo ( Srilanka )
We had Governor from Lions Club of Pettah , Area Convenors and Tablers from Round table Area 2 present on this momentous day. Highlights of todays meeting is given below

• 25 free Cataract surgeries to the needy done at a cost of Rs.50,000/- by Dr.Lankesh and his team @ Dr.Lankesh Eye Hospital.
• They were 15 members in which there were members of Lions Club of Pettah, Srilanka in addition we had one District Governor and one of their National board member was present amongst the 15 Lions there.
• Representing Roundtable we had
o from MKRT 181 - Secy Tr.Amith, IPC & Community service convener Tr.Mahesh Dutia, Projects convener Tr. Rajeshwar Paani, Publicity/Editor & Twinkler convener Tr.Ram Swaroop & Chairman Tr.Vinay Grandhi.
o From Area Board - AST Tr.Hari Balaji, Area Project conveners Tr.Sanjay Goyal & Tr.Suman Voora.
• A token commitment of Rs.10,181/- in cash was given to the President of Lions Club of Pettah for a future community service at Colombo by MKRT 181.
• Appreciation of the members about the relationship amongst both the organization beyond across borders from 2008.
• Speeches by the President & Projects convener of Lions Club of Pettah. Speech by the Lions District Governor. Speeches by Chairman Vinay , AST Hari Balaji and Area Project convener Tr.Sanjay Goyal. Speech by Dr.Lankesh.
• Exchange of pins, flags and mementos happened.


Post meeting, pleasantries where exchange with the delegates and the tablers who have promised to come up some good community services and fellowships which goes beyond boundaries. This certainly reasonates with the themes, for MKRT181 which is “Together in Friendship” and for Lions Club of Pettah which is “Service Beyond Boundaries”.

Thanks tablers of 181 who made it inspite of their commitments. Also Dr Lanky did a phenomenal job in getting this event organized.

Publicity By Cycling By Tr Ram Swaroop of MKRT 181

Tablers and Circlers,

Publicity is a key thing for Tabling

Heres the latest inductee of MKRT 181 with another tabler of Area 2 who went Cycling on ECR road on sunday 18th September for 28 Kms
Reaxion Cycling Club in Chennai is on a mission to revive cycling.
They organized a cycling competition from Thiruvanmayur to
Mahabalipuram (about 45km) sponsored by BSA. The goal was to select
the top 10 cyclists from this race for the grand cycling race in the
Himalayas next month.

In spite of the heavy rain from the weather gods that night about one
hundred and fifty (150) enthusiastic participants showed up for the
competition on Sunday, September 18 at 4.30 a.m.

Because of the rain the race flagged off from the first toll gate on
ECR, the distance was 28km. We were accompanied by an ambulance and
safety cars for assistance. We were provided with Energy Bars,
Glucose and Water at the checkpoints. I made sure that at every check
point I talked to everyone about MKRT's Logo on my shirt and spread
the good word called "Tabling".

I did this Hercules City Challenge up to Temple Bay (Mahabs) on a
bicycle before. This time it was very special because I was wearing
the Round Table MKRT181's T-Shirt and the other reason is I finished
it after partying hard at Tr. Kaval's (Area 2 IPC) Social till 1:30am
at ALOFT. I must admit that I am kinda proud of myself, I honestly
did not believe that I would make it. At the end of it all a
chartered bus brought us back to the starting point (I slept through
the whole bus ride)...

Induction Party BY Tr RAM and Pravina at MKRT 181

hosted their Induction Party at Spring Hotel, The Theme Was CSK as the match between CSk and MI took Place. Even Though CSk lost we Did not lose our spirits and had a great Time.
