This deaf and dumb school consists of 55 inmates who make sarees, linen and children clothes, here we donated saree and embroidery making materials. It was a special occasion for our twinklers as it being childrens day, and they started off their day by participating in this community service by handing out juices and biscuits to the inmates as well. As a token of encouragement some of the tablers and circlers purchased products made from these inmates.

Community service 2: This community service was done in the same campus as the above, where 150 visually challenged children are studying. Here we donated mats and again the twinklers participated actively by giving away snacks to the children.

Here we gave scholarships for three class toppers of 1st 3rd and 5th standard students who were present there from Siragu Montessori School. The Little Genius Club of MKRT 181 on Children’s day the 14th of Nov 2009

Tablers and Circlers,

Nov 14th the children’s day was a big day for all the twinklers of MKRT 181. For the first time ever twinklers of 181 through the national initiative of Little Genius Club did social service and also had a fellowship amongst them selves and also many other twinklers of other tables by inviting them for a screening of a movie.
This day started of at the Deaf and Dumb section of the Little Flower School, T.Nagar below Anna Salai flyover where our little geniuses donated materials required for embroidery on various forms of textile. There are about 55 grown ups who are all deaf and dumb and they make a living by doing this embroidery on Sari’s, linen and children's clothes. This unit is run and managed by the sisters of this little flower school. Our children really understood how some people are un lucky
but still show only one thing on their faces and that is their wide smile. Our children also gave away biscuits and juices to all of them.
From there we all moved ahead to another section of this school which takes care of 150 plus blind children. Here twinklers of 181 donated some requisites related to their dining hall and also distributed some snacks and drinks.
After finishing these two community services all the children with their mothers with a few tablers headed towards Devi Sree Devi Preview Theater. Here for the first time ever the twinklers of MKRT 181 hosted a fellowship event for the other twinklers of all the other tables of Chennai and Pondichery (Area 2) by organising the screening of the latest Warner brothers kids movie called "Shorts". Before the movie started The Little Genius club of MKRT 181 yet again did another community service the 3rd one for the day through Area 2 Chairman Tr.Prabhat in the presence of Chairman of 181 Sunil, community service convenor 181 Tr.Lankesh, Fellowship convenor and ladies of 181 and gave away scholarships to students enough to cover one full academic years fees to class toppers of 1st, 3rd and 5th Standard of Siragu Montessori school run by the famous NGO Suyam Charitable trust. This NGO was chosen because MKRT 181 had adopted their class room projects as their long term project in the year 2004 and have built all together 9 class rooms for them in slots.
Soon movie time had come but before that it was refreshment time and Parfait 3 Bistro a popular restaurant and bakery from Velachery gave away all the kids and their mothers cookies and Muffins as complimentary for the occasion of
children's day. The children were all set for the movie to roll and roll it did and every body had great fun watching it nonstop without a break. After the movie the fellowship did not end because it was lunch time. Even though it was raining
cats and dogs and it was way pass their lunch time the kids were patient enough to head to Copper chimney restaurant where they all had a good time eating their lunch and running around the whole restaurant.
The little geniuses of MKRT 181 ended their Children’s day by all of them in tandem cutting one cake which was an awesome sight to watch them cut the cake together and singing a impromptu version of Happy children’s day.
It was definitely a happy ending for all of them, their mothers (the ladies of 181) and me for have facilitating these activities for them.
Again this initiative of Little Genius club is an awesome initiative and it definitely gives our kids the platform to understand this moto to the " SERVICE THROUGH FELLOWSHIP " and this is what was translated in to action by the future
generation of Round Table India and our country our twinklers of MKRT 181... :-)
This fellowship couldn’t have been a success without the other tables little geniuses and their mothers who made it for the movie fellowship even though it was raining
So, this was a dream made possible for the little genius club of MKRT181 and we definitely will dream on... to do more activities in the months and years to come....
Shine ON!!!!
:-)
