HEART THROB 200
The Heart Throb 200 hosted by us was the 200th meeting of Madras Knights Round Table 181 celebrated on the 11th of Feb 2012 with a backdrop of Valentines Day. The promotion related to this party started from the end of 2011 with a special event & group created for this event in Face Book. There were weekly & daily reminders about the party & what they can expect at the party. Guests were given enough lead-time for not only blocking their calendars but also not to plan or not allow any one else plan a party clashing with this party that night. This was a night planned in such a way that during the party the guests invited had an opportunity to go back in to flash back to their teens or love life’s. The theme of the night was “ Your 1st date “ & the dress code to compliment the theme was “ Dress to impress “. We had about 100 plus guests out of which 99% were old, current & brand new from the tabling fraternity of Chennai. We had about 75 guests from other tables in Chennai and about 35 of our own 181 family & all for sure adhered to the code ☺ . The venue for this night was a beautiful beach house called “Fern Breeze” @ Uthandi off East Coast Road, Chennai with nice landscaping along with a nice pool. The party set up was both in door & out door. The ambiance & dressing of the night was suitably done with a lot of red light and suitable props to compliment the theme.
The entry of our esteemed guests was planned very different. About 50 meters away from the gate of this beach house the valet parking guys stopped guests cars and requested them to board an Auto Rickshaw specially modified for this romantic night & ride, which was topless, painted red and also which played a welcome message a recording on the audio system of the auto during their 30 second journey to the gate of the venue from the valet stop. Once they got off & opened the gate the guests had to walk on a red carpet leading them to another Auto parked with a side profile all dressed up and had a white wall background behind it waiting to be used for a photo shoot by a professional cameraman. This cameraman was always on a stand by ready to click how many ever pictures each couple or individual or a group wanted with this Love Auto.
After the photo shoot at the photo corner the guest had a choice to go right which was the landscaped garden of the beach house or left in to the house indoors to the dance floor and the main bar. The landscaped garden was used in two parts - one had the live food counters along the corners, and big round tables where groups of friends could sit and eat and a small bar set up was also there to quench the thirsty as they were out doors enjoying. The 2nd part of the garden had small round tables individually dressed up to seat individual couples who wanted their space away from the crowd and enjoy the moment for them selves. The out door party had a live duo band with a professional play back singer & highly qualified keyboardist entertaining the people in the garden with some romantic English & Hindi numbers. Requests were entertained and some dedications made.
The 200th meeting was conducted on the terrace of the building where there was a separate set up for a meeting with dedicated audio & furniture and lights. The Chief Guest of the day was the Vice president of Round Table India 2011-12 Tr.Vineet Parikh who specifically flew in for this event from Ahmedabad. The meeting agenda mainly focused on the release of the 200th meeting pin specially designed to commemorate this 200th landmark meeting of MKRT 181 and the time @ “Any other Matter”. Vice President RT India Tr.Vineet and the Area 2 Chairman Tr.Sandilya Venkatesh launched the pin. The 200th meeting cake was cut by the past chairmen of 181 & a few Square legs of Area 2 present at the meeting were asked to come forward & open the champagne bottle. At any other matter we had quite a few of the guests come forward & had good things to say to 181 & a few words of advice to help us move forward further. During the meeting on the terrace where all the men were engaged the ladies were being entertained at the Garden by the duo band with some scintillating singing (so was the feed back)…
As soon as the meeting was wound up all the men got down to the garden & every one had some time to fix their drinks & catch up casually with people around. Later all guests were asked to step indoors where there was a cake cut for the hostess of the evening my wife Sweta as it was her birthday too this day. Following this personal moment I performed a dedication dance to my wife which was a surprise performance supported by professional dancers to a medley mixed number, which hopefully entertained my wife and the crowd, observing (So I hoped!). I definitely know for sure I amused a few, entertained a few, made a few jealous, & made a few go WOW!!! & Also made a few think what the “F” is this guy up to??? ☺ LOL !!!. After this performance the Visual DJ kick started the night by opening the dance floor for all the guests. After a couple of dances the guests were again asked to step out to witness a 6 minute synchronized dance performance by a group of 6 professional dancers from the S Dance company of Chennai in the water inside the swimming pool at the garden. This was a first time experience for many including the dancers & it was definitely worth an attempt because many appreciated it. After this final performance many guests started eating and many moved to the dance floor inside. Here on the DJ inside took over totally and the guests enjoyed dancing away through the night grooving to various genres of music & had some finger licking yummy food catered by Uncle Sam’s kitchen one of the biggies in the industry. The bar at this party was also tended by the best in town and was busy from the start to finish with a variety of spirits which flowed enough to get people high on them out of which the memorable ones were the strawberry Jello shots & various other kinds of shots that moved around. This party had a dedicated shots counter to keep shots moving around through out the party.
The party went ON till the wee hours and completely shut at around 3.30am. It was an amazing experience to plan this party right from the concept to execution. The people who attended this party made every minute spent behind planning and executing this party worthy. The best thing about this party is the post party feed back which we have got from all the guests. This has made us feel delighted to have hosted this night for friends. The icing on the cake is that the pictures taken by many people at the party especially the ones with the Auto have been made as their profile pictures in various social networking Internet platforms…
So finally I can confidently vouch that the HEART THROB 200 party ROCKED Together in Friendship in typical known 181 style & it was a pleasure for Sweta & me to host it. Thank you!
