Tablers and Circlers A report on the BIKERS DAY OUT from Tr Venky chairman of 82. MKRT 181 had two particpants in Tr Bhavesh and Tr Hamir . Have a look at the snaps and then the report.
This mantra that I picked up from a road sign in the hills on the old Chennai to Bangalore highway, (NH 45) manifested itself in many ways on April 5th, 2009. “I haven’t ridden a bike in so long, I don’t have a bike, it’s just too hot, how will I wake up early on a Sunday morning”, etc are just some of the many questions (read excuses) that came flying across when Area 2’s first ever Bikers Day Out was announced, about 15 days before the actual event. Madras Central Round Table (MCRT) 82 who masterminded and executed the event as their third Inter Table activity, provided answers to most of the questions put forth by the desirous. With the support of Royal Enfield, MCRT 82 were able to arrange for 8 motorcycles for Area 2 tablers to ride while the rest chose to bring along their own steeds. For the first time in my relatively short stint in tabling, I was shocked to see 92% attendance of the pre-registrations and more importantly, every one of them reporting sharp at 6.45am at the venue. All of us at MCRT 82 would like to thank individually all the participants who took the effort to turn up on time and helped make the day special. Giving us company were friends of Tr. Sivaramakrishnan (Area Track Day & Treasure Hunt Convenor, MCRT 94) in their exotic imports. The display was ogle worthy and comprised Tr. Siva’s own Harley Davidson V-Rod, a Yamaha Warrior, a couple of Honda CBRs and MCRT 94 Chairman Neville’s Yamaha FZR. The agenda was simple – a pure ‘Boys’ day out. No families, just the men and their bikes. We were to drive down the scenic East Coast Road upto the point where it meets the Old Mahabalipuram Road, hit a Farm and engage in fulfilling gastronomic cravings and indulge in some ‘activity’. What ensued was beyond most people’s imagination. Having travelled about 45 minutes down the East Coast Road, time that included a couple of breaks for regrouping, KD, who was our Ride Leader from Royal Enfield suggested a path off the main road leading to the sea. Thick white sand greeted our Biker Boys as they virtually waded and paddled their way through. It was a good example of off road biking, and left most of our tablers out of breath. The ride through till the farm was uneventful. Good long roads, relatively low traffic and great rides saw us reach ‘The Farm’ by about 10am. A delectable spread of farm fresh food including Stuffed parathas and dosas with lip smacking accompaniments saw the tablers spend good amount of time refueling their selves. Fresh tender coconut water from the original fruit was the beverage of choice for the day. After breakfast, some chose to leave to attend to Sunday “family commitments” while others hung around to venture to the last leg of Bikers Day Out – the litmus test. The 70 acre farm has its own forest and two water bodies. The shallower of the two were chosen to test the water biking abilities of our tablers! They rode through rough terrain of sand and grass and plunged into a feet deep pool of water and slush, true biker style! Not one casualty reported and colgate-esque grins all around. Other activities included the Bikers trying to pick up cans of aerated water while riding. Tr. Uttam (RT 159) and Tr. Hamir (RT 181) excelled at this. Now we were all acquainted of our tablers’ abilities at grabbing cans but this enthusiasm for non alcoholic beverage was encouraging! We capped off an absolutely marvelous day on the roads (and off it!) by about half past noon and rode back to where we started from – the Royal Enfield Brand Store. Customary greetings were exchanged and everyone moved on to the rigours of their prosaic everyday lives. The response received has been encouraging. Most bikers asked for the event to be organized on a more regular basis. Some even wanted a slightly more elaborate ride spread over two days. A few plans seem to have hit the drawing board - you will hear from us as and when the same materializes. MCRT 82 would once again like to thank all the tablers who participated for turning up on time and in promised numbers, Royal Enfield and KD for the technical and logistic support and the team at The Farm who put together a great breakfast and offered us a venue which gave vent to our innate biking skills. Gratitude is also due to everyone involved who ensured that MCRT 82’s promise of safer roads was upheld with everyone turning up with helmets and avoiding any form of inebriating beverage through the course of the event. Just another day towards fulfilling MCRT 82’s promise of Miles Together.

The beer guzzling competition which is a event made for 181ers was once again won By Defending Champ Tr Bhavesh who finished a 750 ml chilled beer bottle in under 10 seconds followed closesy by runner up Tr Rajiv Shah who finished in 13 seconds
What a fellowship!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Right from the start at assembly point,Tabler Kaval's house, the fun started & continued till we came back the next day. There were 21 tablers & circlers with 8 twinklers. A convoy of cars headed to Adventure Zone where we were welcomed by Major Roy with a briefing session & a welcome drink, after which we moved our gear into the tents to freshen up for the night. The Knights moved into one tent & Circlers into another.
The bar was set up on the lawn where as usual the Knights started assembling as soon as possible. The evening started with Chairman forcing everyone to gulp wine. As soon as Major Roy's men set up the born fire the bar shifted towards that side and we indulged in a game of truth or dare. Actually it was all Dare no truth. The nite heated up more coz of the Dare instead of the born fire as we had our VC Sunil & my co-convener Bhavesh showing us a few Kamasutra poses..........with clothes on; Tr Manish teaching Tr. Kawal to dance on Mithunda steps, Crs demonstrating a threesome......with women u dirty minds. A Tr. enacting a pregnant woman in labour, Tr. Amit riding an imaginary scooter & then pretending as a pole while Tr. Kaval did a pole dance followed by a few more dares was Tr.Bhavesh again who enlightened the tablers on the sizes of bras that would fit the respective tablers.....check out the pics guys! Some of the high spirits in the knights started becoming low & they decided to call it a nite while the rest of the high spirits started getting higher as the nite progressed some of the tablers did their usual antics. Finally we were asked to go back to the tents & sleep. We did go back to the tents & the party continued there till God knows how long with Kawal's ipod going full blast. We also woke up all the low spirited tablers with high spirits & as usual the "tanni" never stopped flowing.
In spite of the hangovers everyone was up and ready for the activities the next morning. We were split into two teams named Knight Rockers & Knight Shockers. Rockers started off with rappelling while the Shockers simultaneously started the 50 feet high rock climb (which was later inter changed after an hour). It was excellent team work and a bonding experience among the team as well as the opposite team as help, motivation, advice & concern was given to overcome fear and fatigue. The surprise elements of the whole programme was cirlcer Sarika completing the whole climb, Tr. Rahul rappelling with his ligament tear and his super lazer eyes ( which is as usual for any activity) Crs Bhavana, Sweta, Tr. Manish overcame their fear of heights by rappelling. The biggest surprise was the blue pill guy (Viagra) who was unable to rock climb to even 5 feet but was excellent in rappelling. Notably two guys who scored highest for their teams respectively was Tr Ganesh of Shockers & Tr. Sameer of Rockers which was expected. Since everyone was in full steam, without taking a break we went on to the last activity which was the Obstacle Course.
After lunch and a refreshing bath some tablers & circlers went to the shooting range to try their hands on some targets, most of them im sure were thinking that they were killing the Mumbai terrorists. I am told that everyone had a blast & Cr. Jaya scored the highest points.
After all four activities the Rockers were leading from start to finish. This activity enlightened all of us to overcome hurdles created by our own minds and help each other professionally, in tabling and personally. Everyone has it in them to do all this but we saw this turn to reality during these two days.
Later some of the tablers and circlers went on to attend "Top Gun"
